Role: Senior SMSF Accountant

Work Arrangement: Work from Home

Schedule: Morning Shift

Join our pioneering finance team as a Senior SMSF Accountant and leverage your extensive expertise to lead in the financial services industry. With this role, you will manage complex Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSF) operations, play a crucial role in strategic financial decision-making, and ensure top-tier compliance standards. This work-from-home opportunity allows you to make significant impacts while maintaining a flexible work-life balance. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership in preparing and analyzing complex SMSF financial statements and tax returns 
• Develop, review, and enhance detailed workpapers to support SMSF reporting, auditing and compliance 
• Expert liaison with clients to secure necessary data and records while fostering robust client relationships 
• Demonstrated prior experience in conducting independent audits of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs) within an accounting firm and/or a similar professional services environment, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance with the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (SIS Act) and related regulations, as well as adherence to Australian Auditing Standards (ASA) 
• Guide and supervise auditors, ensuring meticulous compliance and accuracy 
• Proactively identify, assess, and address SIS and tax compliance issues 
• Oversee pension compliance and sophisticated reporting processes 

Qualification and requirements:

EXPERIENCE: 

• 5+ years of experience in SMSF accounting or a closely related financial sector 
• Proven track record in leading client engagements and high-level compliance management 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required 
• CPA certification or equivalent is essential 

SOFTWARE: 

• Mastery of SMSF-specific accounting software - Class SMSF software 
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and broader financial software applications 

PERSONALITY MATCH/SOFT SKILLS: 

• Exceptional leadership and strategic decision-making capabilities 
• Highly developed communication and negotiation skills 
• Self-directed and adept at managing complex tasks remotely 

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience in SMSF accounting 
• Mastery in preparing complex SMSF financial statements and ensuring compliance 
• Comprehensive knowledge of SMSF regulations and best practices 
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA certification
