About the Role

We have partnered with an Australian-based company that specialises in designing, installing, and maintaining long-term electrical, security, and communications solutions.

The role is responsible for generating tender submissions by estimating labour and material costs from project documentation, reviewing previous tenders for value management opportunities, and managing relationships with clients, new customers, and suppliers. Reporting to the General Manager, the role also supports and manages the estimation department across all contracts and projects.

What you’ll be working on:

Estimation Management

  • Lead collection of project-specific data and develop accurate cost bases for project completion.
  • Provide planning and operational support across a broad range of activities.
  • Schedule and manage tender requests in advance to maximise resource efficiency and productivity.
  • Complete detailed material and labour take-offs to ensure estimation accuracy.
  • Liaise with the Operations Department to confirm tender allowances are practical, commercially viable and competitive.
  • Build, consolidate and maintain a core network of suppliers to meet project demand and support business growth.
  • Ensure the estimation team is equipped with effective tools, systems and technical knowledge to produce successful, sustainable tenders that meet margin targets and KPI requirements.
  • Follow up on submitted tenders within agreed timeframes to confirm receipt, assess relevance and maximise conversion to orders.
  • Identify and recommend value-engineering opportunities that offer more cost-effective or improved solutions for clients.

  • Identify and recommend value-engineering opportunities that offer more cost-effective or improved solutions for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, plans, industry standards, applicable laws (including safety, environmental, state etc).
  • Escalate or discuss relevant matters with the General Manager where appropriate.
  • Liaise with the Operations Department when a contract is secured to ensure a clear understanding of scope, specifications, inclusions/exclusions and methodologies, enabling accurate, efficient, safe and profitable delivery.
  • Liaise with Operations Department as required throughout projects to ensure that any variations are captured and assist in pricing and submitting these as required.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors and suppliers used in the tendering process are competent in their service delivery.
  • Manage multiple tenders across multiple clients at any given time.
  • Complete daily tender admin tasks as requested by the GM.
  • Ensure that all job information including time tracking and margin tracking is accurate and up to date and that all reprinting and reviewing are completed on time.
  • Compile the supplier and sub-contractor white and blacklist.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors have submitted all required paperwork and that it is up to date (including certificates, WHS, etc).
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by their Manager and support all business functions as required.


Qualifications

  • Open to candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably with estimating or strong knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft products, Job Management Systems such as Tradify or Ascora and any other IT products applicable to the role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Well-rounded commercial mindset and capability – able to identify profit opportunities.
  • High attention to detail in data handling and entry.
  • Experienced in assessing project risks and managing contractual relationships to ensure compliant service delivery.
  • Skilled in scope management, variation identification, tender preparation, time management and client communication.
  • Understanding and experience in the (Western Australian) electrical industry is a plus!
  • Strong negotiation skills to convert tenders to orders and liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time, budget, quality, and deadlines efficiently.
  • Demonstrably self-motivated to achieve role and business outcomes.
