Job Location: DAMMAM, SAUDI ARABIA

The Substation Automation and Control Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automation, protection, and control systems for electrical substations. This role ensures reliable, safe, and efficient operation of substation equipment in compliance with technical standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design substation automation, protection, and control systems (SAS, SCADA, IEDs)
• Prepare control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnection drawings
• Develop protection and control philosophies, logic diagrams, and functional descriptions
• Configure, integrate, and test IEDs, RTUs, HMIs, and communication networks
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and commissioning teams to ensure design alignment
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and utility standards
• Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities
• Review vendor documents and provide technical support throughout project execution

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Experience in substation automation, protection, and control design
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, IEC 61850, and communication protocols
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design tools
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
