- Collect and prepare biological specimens such as blood, urine, and stool for CBC, urinalysis, stool exam, drug tests, hepatitis, and HIV screening tests; label and organize samples to maintain accuracy by performing serological, bacteriological, biochemical, hematological, and microbiological examinations
- Analyze biochemical composition and determine the presence of drug chemicals
- Interpret, analyze, and summarize test results, identifying abnormalities by determining whether sample parameters fall within normal ranges; report findings in electronic format to physicians and other medical specialists, and collaborate on patient care
- Perform quality control on all testing procedures to ensure the validity and accuracy of test results; troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain complex lab equipment such as analyzers, microscopes, and spectrophotometers
- Maintain and monitor laboratory stock and supplies, and process replenishment orders
- Maintain meticulous records of all laboratory data, tests, and findings
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols, ethical standards, and state and federal regulations, including those concerning biohazards
