About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations of our client’s growing team. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting the financial health.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of US GAAP, with expertise in both Accounts Payable and General Ledger functions. This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee the complete bookkeeping cycle for a specific business unit and contribute directly to our client’s success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process high-volume invoices using a P2P system, including uploading, coding, and ensuring accuracy, authorization, and PO matching.
  • Maintain procurement systems and perform supplier reconciliations.
  • Manage creditor ledgers, handle supplier inquiries, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Organize payment runs, supervise AP functions, and train/develop AP Clerks.
  • Manage all AP transactions, including invoice processing, payment disbursement, and vendor management, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle.
  • Maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Prepare/post journal entries and perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Identify and implement improvements in bookkeeping and AP processes.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide timely and accurate financial information.
  • Perform other duties as directed


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong emphasis on AP and GL functions.
  • Proven experience managing the full bookkeeping cycle for a specific location or business unit.
  • Solid understanding of AP principles and GL accounting/reconciliation procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAGE, MYOB, ERP, P2P) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and relevant tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent phone and email communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high transaction volumes, make calls to customers/suppliers, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to undertake various tasks and collaborate effectively.
  • Innovative mindset with a commitment to process improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of the accounts payable function.
  • Previous experience in hospitality or multi-site companies.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with New York State tax regulations.
  • Experience with audit preparation.
  • Familiarity with BPO/outsourcing setups or working with US-based clients.
