A Senior Art Director in an advertising agency leads the visual and creative side of campaigns. They conceptualize compelling visual strategies, ensure creative quality, manage a team of designers and artists, and collaborate with copywriters, account teams, and clients to deliver high-impact work across multiple media channels.


Responsibilities

1. Creative Concept & Ideation

  • Develop and pitch big ideas/creative concepts for campaigns (digital, print, outdoor, broadcast, social, etc.).
  • Collaborate with copywriters, strategists, planners, and account managers to translate briefs into visual narratives.


2. Design & Execution Oversight

  • Oversee production of design deliverables: layouts, illustrations, multimedia, motion graphics, video content, and photo direction.
  • Ensure all visual assets align with brand identity, quality standards, and client objectives.
  • Supervise photo/video shoots: from pre-production (briefing, scouting, storyboarding) to post-production.


3. Team Leadership and Mentoring

  • Lead/manage designers, junior art directors, external vendors/freelancers.
  • Provide feedback, mentorship, and guidance to help elevate their craft.
  • Assign tasks, balance workload, and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.


4. Client & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Present concepts and final designs to clients and/or internal stakeholders; explain design rationale.
  • Take feedback from clients/stakeholders and revise work while maintaining creative integrity.


5. Strategic & Brand Stewardship

  • Stay updated with visual, cultural, digital, and advertising trends; use insights to refresh creative approaches.
  • Maintain consistency in the brand’s visual identity across platforms and touch points.


6. Project Management & Workflow

  • Set and manage timelines, tasks, and budgets; ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with production, digital, media, and account teams to ensure seamless workflow.
