About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven Research & Development Supervisor to spearhead product innovation, recipe validation, and quality assurance initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring that all products meet company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements, while supporting continuous improvement across production, sales, and food safety operations.

Reporting To: Commissary Manager

Supervises: R&D and QA Specialist

Responsibilities

Product Development

• Collaborate closely with the CEO, R&D Chef, and Marketing Head in conceptualizing and developing new food products.
• Lead the end-to-end preparation of product manuals, including:
• Sensory evaluation and product approval
• Process flow development
• Batch trial runs
• Recipe management and costing
• Packaging development
• Shelf-life testing
• Coordinate new product rollouts and conduct training for production and support teams.
• Work with the R&D Chef on raw material testing and approval.
• Evaluate post-launch performance and recommend improvements.
• Provide technical support to sales, institutional clients, and toll manufacturing projects when applicable.

Recipe Validation

• Supervise the execution, documentation, and completion of recipe validation and revalidation projects.

Food Safety & Quality Assurance

• Promote and strengthen the company’s food safety culture in coordination with the Commissary Manager.
• Ensure product compliance with established quality and safety specifications.
• Investigate product complaints and prepare technical reports.
• Monitor production compliance with QA, GMP, and food safety standards.
• Develop QA guidelines, standards, rules, and regulations.

Regulatory & Compliance

• Act as the company’s QPIRA representative for FDA-related matters.
• Ensure company operations and products comply with updated FDA and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and maintain HACCP and food safety documentation.

Additional Duties

• Create and maintain production and quality standards to improve workflow efficiency.
• Test and approve alternative raw materials.
• Encode and update recipes and raw material costing.
• Assist in special projects assigned by the CEO.
• Address technical and quality concerns from company-operated stores.
• Provide hands-on support in production and packing activities when required.

Job Requirements

• Graduate of BS Food Technology, BS Nutrition and Dietetics, BS Chemistry, or other related science courses.
• At least 3 years of experience in R&D and Quality Assurance or equivalent supervisory roles in the food industry.
• Strong background in qualitative and quantitative food analysis.
• Knowledgeable in basic office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills are an advantage.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
• Flexible, detail-oriented, and able to work cross-functionally across departments.
