About the role

We have an exciting exciting opportunity for a Sr. Patching Engineer, who will work on incidents and requests related to patching. They will be focusing on patching both Windows and Linux-based operating systems, and other technologies. In this role, the successful candidate should be a self-starter, must be comfortable working in a very fast paced, busy environment in the rapidly growing IT services industry.

Job Descriptions:

• Manage and deploy security updates and patches across Windows and Linux servers and workstations using SCCM, ConnectWise Automate, and native Linux tools (yum, apt, zypper).

• Build, maintain, and improve patching schedules and documentation to ensure timely and compliant deployments.

• Test patches in staging environments before production rollout to minimize disruption and risk.

• Troubleshoot patching failures, system conflicts, and performance issues.

• Monitor patching progress and compliance, maintaining detailed records and producing regular reports.

• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to coordinate deployments and minimize operational impact.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest security bulletins and patch advisories from Microsoft, Linux distros, and third-party vendors.

• Handle P1/P2 incidents related to patching as needed.

• Develop internal SOPs, standards, and best practices around patch management.

• Provide technical support and mentoring on patching-related issues to other IT team members.

• 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to patching operations.

• Proven hands-on experience in patching and maintaining mixed OS environments (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Windows 10/11, RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE).

• Expertise in tools like SCCM and ConnectWise Automate for patch deployment and monitoring.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of patch failures.

• Solid understanding of security vulnerabilities and how to address them through timely patching.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple patching cycles, and meet deadlines under pressure.

• Experience with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow (preferred), ConnectWise, Remedy, or HP.

• Familiarity with patch compliance tracking, reporting metrics, and automation.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and risk mitigation through patching.
