As HSEQ & Contracts Support, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation fully meets its Principal Contractor responsibilities under Australian WHS legislation through end-to-end remote compliance management.

Key Responsibilities
Principal Contractor HSEQ Management (Remote)
- Develop and maintain project-specific HSEQ documentation, including:
- WHS Management Plans
- Site-specific risk assessments
- Construction Safety Management Plans (where required)
- Emergency response and escalation procedures
- Ensure all Principal Contractor obligations are met through documented controls, approvals, and verification processes
- Establish remote verification methods such as photos, videos, checklists, and sign-offs to confirm site safety controls
Project Compliance & Contract Review
- Review contracts, scopes of work, and client specifications to identify compliance requirements
- Convert contractual and regulatory obligations into enforceable procedures, checklists, and documentation
- Maintain digital compliance registers and evidence packs
- Ensure all documentation is current, approved, and accessible prior to project commencement
Subcontractor Compliance & Control
- Prequalify subcontractors in line with Principal Contractor compliance standards
- Review and approve SWMS, risk assessments, licences, insurances, and competency records
- Control site access through document approval and induction completion
- Suspend or reject subcontractors who do not meet compliance standards
Remote Site Verification & Oversight
- Implement and manage remote site verification processes, including:
- Photo and video evidence
- Digital site checklists
- Supervisor sign-offs
- Subcontractor declarations
- Review compliance evidence and follow up on non-compliances
- Immediately escalate high-risk issues to management
Incident, Risk & Non-Conformance Management
- Manage incident and near-miss reporting remotely
- Lead investigations using interviews, document reviews, and digital evidence
- Maintain risk registers, hazard logs, and corrective action trackers
- Ensure notifiable incidents are escalated and reported in accordance with requirements
Contract Administration & Risk Management
- Manage contract documentation, variations, and compliance-related obligations
- Monitor contractual safety, quality, and reporting requirements
- Identify and escalate contractual risks affecting Principal Contractor responsibilities
- Support project teams with compliance-focused contract interpretation
Client, Audit & Regulatory Engagement
- Act as the primary remote compliance contact for clients, auditors, and regulators
- Prepare and submit audit documentation and compliance evidence
- Coordinate responses to audits and information requests
- Maintain audit-ready records at all times
Training, Inductions & Communication
- Coordinate remote inductions and project briefings
- Maintain digital training and competency records
- Distribute safety alerts, toolbox talks, and compliance updates
- Reinforce Principal Contractor compliance expectations across all stakeholders
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Provide regular HSEQ and contract compliance reports to management
- Monitor trends in incidents, non-conformances, and subcontractor performance
- Recommend enhancements to remote compliance and verification processes
- Capture lessons learned and integrate improvements into future projects
What We’re Looking For
- Background or experience in HSEQ, safety compliance, contract administration, or document control
- Experience supporting Australian projects or clients is highly desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for audits, reports, and compliance correspondence
- Proactive approach to maintaining accurate, current records and making evidence-based decisions
- High attention to detail with strong documentation, version control, and record-keeping skills
- Confidence in enforcing compliance requirements and escalating risks when required
- Comfortable using digital systems for document management, verification, reporting, and tracking
- Highly organised, process-driven, and capable of managing high-volume compliance workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and Principal Contractor obligations
- Previous experience in HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) roles
- Safety Officer training or relevant certifications
- Experience in fire protection, safety, construction, or compliance-focused industries
- Immediate availability is an advantage
