Job Title: Truck Driver – Live Hogs

Job Summary:

The Truck Driver for Live Hogs is responsible for safely transporting live hogs from farms to processing facilities or markets while ensuring the welfare and proper handling of the animals. This role requires careful attention to animal safety, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to transportation regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain a truck used for transporting live hogs
• Ensure the live hogs are properly loaded, secured, and ventilated during transit
• Monitor the condition of the animals throughout the journey to minimize stress and injury
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness
• Follow designated routes, schedules, and delivery instructions
• Comply with all local, state, and company transportation and safety regulations
• Maintain accurate delivery records and logbooks
• Coordinate with farm staff and receiving personnel to ensure smooth loading and unloading
• Report any accidents, injuries, or issues promptly to management

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in livestock handling is a plus
• Valid professional driver’s license (preferably with a clean driving record)
• Experience in driving heavy vehicles or trucks, preferably in livestock transport
• Knowledge of animal welfare standards and handling procedures
• Physically fit and able to handle the demands of loading and unloading animals
• Good communication and time management skills
• Ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures
