Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- At least 2 years’ experience with supervisory or managerial responsibilities
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Very good organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and good grasping power
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with Accounting Software
Basic Functions
- Responsible for supervision and control of the general accounting area, and for financial statement and report preparation
- Supervise and control general accounting functions such as the general ledger, payables, payroll, and statistical accumulation
- Assist the Finance Head and other departments with annual budget preparation and budget reviews
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement accounting operations and objectives; coordinate and integrate all activities toward achievement of established goals and objectives
- Supervise, train, and evaluate entry-level accounting professionals and support staff
- Ensure all functions and programs are performed within established budgetary parameters, including cost control, monitoring revenues and expenditures, and ensuring sound fiscal control
- Generate complex system reports or audit calculations to ensure accuracy (e.g., billing, payroll processing, accounts payable)
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts with assistance from financial accountants
- Plan, manage, coordinate, and implement year-end closing processes and procedures; conduct year-end closing; provide information to external auditors; conduct standard internal audits; review Finance manual and accounting processes for efficiency enhancements
- Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting standards and principles; maintain proper audit trails and verification for all processed work
- Evaluate receipts, expenditure forms, purchase orders, distributions/allocation of expenses, and disbursement orders for compliance with regulatory standards
- Perform verification and reconciliation tasks for invoices, receipts, and balances according to department procedures
- Ensure compliance with all government requirements
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, revenue analysis, cost and expense analysis, and aging of receivables and payables
- Coordinate with external auditors for preparation of audited financial statements
- Assist in preparation of annual and mid-year budgets
- Prepare studies, reports, and related information for management decision-making
- Provide technical accounting support and interpretation to management and employees
- Attend and represent department at various ad hoc meetings; serve on employee committees
- Coordinate activities with other departments and work groups as needed
- Perform related duties as directed
